Well, I've been wanting to try this kind-of "cell shading" technique for a while, and so I thought, why not on something new and interesting? This was a Gaia commission for a Star Wars OC: a Twi'lek / human hybrid character who was a "Dark Jedi" - which I took to mean "Sith".

Interesting enough, this is the only Sith I've ever seen with a purple lightsabre. And my first time drawing a Twi'lek! Those... growths... coming out of the back of her head were a pain. But I think she turned out pretty well!

Yes, I absolutely love it! Also, not all sith had red lightsabers. The colour is just an aesthetic choice for the Jedi, as it's just a simple crystal that determines the colour. Blue, Green, and Yellow got meanings when KotOR came out, but before then it was just whatever the Jedi found pleasing to them.

I've only read a couple of the books, and that was a long time ago, so I'm pretty behind on this kind of stuff.
And I think I may have read those all out of order.
XD

So the red, purple, white, et cetera lightsabres don't have any underlying meaning - they're just colours chosen because their owners liked them?

Actually, I learn a lot of the lore from wookieepedia.com. You can find just about everything you want to know from there.
